Antique Maps - own a piece of history

The Holy Land

Abraham Patriarchae Peregrinatio et Vita
Abraham Ortelius, 1595

Abraham Ortelius published this intricate mapping of the Holy Land in his famous atlas of maps, “Theatrum Orbis Terrarum” in Antwerp in 1595. The Ortelius atlas is sometimes referred to as the summary of sixteenth-century cartography. Many of his atlas' maps were based upon sources that no longer exist or are extremely rare.

His exceptional talents as a cartographer, historian and artist culminated in his creation of this biblically themed engraving  with twenty-two medallions depicting the life of Abraham the Patriarch. This beautiful canvas Giclée also includes an elaborate, biblical cartouche and a framed inscription of Abraham's promise.

United States in 1835

This finely detailed image was originally published by Olney's School Geography Atlas in 1835 at a pivotal time in American history. This map was published in the first year of Texas as a republic. It shows an enormous republic of Texas, which borders the Missouri territory to the north and Mexico to the west.

Museum Quality Giclée on Canvas

All of the artwork on this page are museum quality canvas Giclée reproductions. Only the finest archival inks are used on premium superior quality canvas. At every stage of the Giclée production process, the most exacting standards possible are employed. This assures the reproduction is of the highest quality and nearly indistinguishable from the original. Canvas graphics are 100% waterproof, require no glass and will not fade or shift.

The production process for these Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay) prints reflect the long-standing European tradition of rendering one image at a time. (The word Giclée literally means "to spray" in French.) The prints very closely match the original piece of art because of the millions of possible hues of inks using state-of-the-art, high resolution equipment.
